Alberto Rojas, MD
Medical Director
Dr. Alberto Rojas serves as Medical Director at Arc Mental Health, bringing over 30 years of medical experience and a career built on a deep commitment to patient care, clinical excellence, and evidence-based treatment.
Dr. Rojas earned his Medical Doctor degree from the Instituto Superior de Ciencias Médicas in Villa Clara, Cuba, where he also completed residency training in family medicine and an emergency medicine fellowship, later practicing as a family doctor and pursuing clinical research on dengue and asthma. He went on to complete his psychiatry residency at Larkin Community Hospital in Miami, becoming licensed to practice medicine in the state of Florida.
Since establishing his career in South Florida, Dr. Rojas has practiced as an attending psychiatrist with Cortázar and Associates and provided telepsychiatry services with Sunshine Community and Behavioral Services, while also serving in compliance, medical assistant, and quality assurance roles earlier in his U.S. career — experience that gives him a well-rounded understanding of both clinical care and healthcare operations.
Dr. Rojas is also active in clinical research, with particular depth in conditions affecting older adults. Since 2020, he has worked as a sub-investigator and principal investigator on pharmaceutical drug studies at My Community Research Center, including Phase 3 trials evaluating treatments for agitation and psychosis associated with Alzheimer’s disease — work that has deepened his understanding of how neuropsychiatric symptoms present alongside cognitive decline in aging patients. He has also published case study research on unusual neuropsychiatric presentations and is trained in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and neuropsychiatric rater methodology.
As Medical Director at Arc Mental Health, Dr. Rojas draws on this research-informed background to guide psychiatric care across the practice, with particular attention to the needs of older adults navigating both mental health and cognitive concerns. He is a trained TMS treatment provider, holds a Suboxone license, and is certified through Florida’s Physician Medical Marijuana dispensing course, allowing him to offer patients a broad range of advanced treatment options. Dr. Rojas is fluent in both English and Spanish.
